We hear a lot about Generation Y and Z, mostly in the context of certain differences in their viewpoints. Generational labels, from Boomers to Alphas, reflect the changing cultural and technological circumstances.
Boomers (1946-1964) “boomed” and grew up in post-war prosperity.
Gen X (1965-1980), coined by Douglas Coupland, saw the analog-to-digital shift.
Gen Y or Millennials (1981-1996), labeled by Neil Howe and William Strauss, are tech-savvy.
Gen Z (1997-2012) are digital natives, naturally following X and Y.
Alphas (2010-present), named by Mark McCrindle, are the first fully 21st-century generation, expected to be the most technologically immersed.
