You’ve heard of Schrödinger’s Cat, right? The one in the box that is alive and dead at the same time.

Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger is best known for this famous thought experiment and his groundbreaking wave equation, which revolutionized quantum mechanics.

Schrödinger’s equation offered a mathematical model for understanding how particles behave at a quantum level, earning him a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1933. His work laid the foundation for modern technology, from semiconductors to quantum computing.

A cat, a flask of poison, and a radioactive source connected to a Geiger counter are placed in a sealed box. As illustrated, the quantum description uses a superposition of a living cat and one that has died.

Something interesting: researchers at the University of Science and Technology of China claim to have observed atoms in a state of quantum superposition for 23 minutes.
