This traditional “treat” is made from Greenland shark, which is toxic when fresh, so they bury the shark meat in gravel for several months, letting it ferment, then hang it to dry. The result is a strong-smelling, ammonia-rich dish that’s definitely not for the faint of heart!
Even Anthony Bourdain called it the “single worst, most disgusting and terrible tasting thing” he’d ever eaten. I agree with him—that one piece I tried was just foul! 🤢
