Maltese (Lingwa Maltija) is Europe’s only Semitic language, making it truly one of a kind!
With roots in Arabic, Maltese has been influenced by Italian, Sicilian, French, and English, creating a fascinating linguistic blend.
Despite its ancient origins, Maltese is written in the Latin alphabet, which makes it unique among Semitic languages. Locals switch between Maltese and English, both official languages of the country.
Here are some phrases in Maltese:
Iva = Yes; Le = No
Jekk jogħġbok = Please
Grazzi ħafna = Thank you very much
Bonġu = Hello / Good morning
Mhux problema = No problem

And one last thing - this publication will stay free forever, but if you feel I deserve a cup of matcha 🍵 here and there, then please buy me some - the next drink’s on me! ☕
Very cool. I never thought about Maltese as a language. Very interesting.
