The Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, Italy is a masterpiece of both art and spirituality.
Built shortly after Francis’ canonization in 1228, the basilica is composed of two levels: the Upper Church, with stunning Gothic architecture, and the Lower Church, known for its Romanesque style.
Inside, you'll find frescoes by renowned artists like Giotto and Cimabue, presenting the life and miracles of Saint Francis.
The saint’s remains are buried in the crypt below the altar, drawing pilgrims from around the world. This incredible basilica stands as a symbol of faith and humility, like the life of St. Francis himself.
