The Crown Jewels are an iconic collection of 23,578 gemstones and sacred regalia, housed in the Tower of London since 1661. This astonishing collection includes objects like St. Edward’s Crown, the Imperial State Crown, and the Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross, containing historical gems and largest clear-cut diamonds in the world, the Cullinan I and the Koh-i-Noor.
The Jewels are still in active use today, during coronation ceremonies and events like the State Opening of Parliament. These witnesses of the most important historical moments in British history symbolize the monarchy’s authority and its triumphs.
