⚡The Necktie: Croatia’s Fashionable Gift to the World⚡
How Croatian soldiers sparked a global fashion trend
Did you know the necktie originated in Croatia?
Back in the 17th century, Croatian mercenaries fighting in France wore knotted scarves around their necks as part of their uniform. The stylish look caught the eye of King Louis XIII, who adopted it, and soon, the “cravat” (from “à la Croate”) became a symbol of fashion in the French court.
Over time, the cravat evolved into the modern necktie, becoming a staple in men’s fashion worldwide.
Today, Croatia celebrates International Cravat Day every October 18th, honoring this timeless Croatian contribution to style!
