⚡Westminster Abbey’s Poets’ Corner as a Tribute to Literary Legends⚡
Where great poets and writers find their eternal home
Westminster Abbey’s Poets’ Corner is a literary landmark, home to over 100 poets, playwrights, and writers who have shaped British literature.
The story of this special section of the Abbey began in 1400 with the burial of Geoffrey Chaucer. Over time, other literary giants like Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling, and Alfred, Lord Tennyson joined him, creating a tradition of honoring Britain’s greatest writers in this corner of the Abbey.
The space also includes memorials to writers like Lord Byron, Oscar Wilde, Jane Austen and the Brontë sisters, celebrating their contributions to English literature.
