Did you know that Vienna is home to the world’s oldest zoo?
Founded in 1752 as an imperial zoo, Schönbrunn Zoo has been delighting visitors for over 270 years. Located on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, the zoo was originally a private collection of exotic animals for Austrian royalty.
Today, it’s a world-class conservation center with over 600 species, including giant pandas, polar bears, and rainforest animals. You can walk through its elegant Baroque pavilions and be taken back in time in this blend of history, architecture, and nature. It really is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Vienna, whether you’re a history buff or an animal lover.
